Check functionality of the fuse
Usually, a blown fuse affects the flow of current from the battery. You want to check that first. In case you cannot locate where your corolla’s fuse box, consult owner manual. However, you should check under the dashboard. Using the owner’s manual as a guide, locate and check if the fuse is blown already. It is important that you turn off the ignition before going for the fuse box. For the blown fuse, you should remove it with a tweezer replacing it with an exact match by inserting it in the correct position.
Check if the tail light bulbs are functional
You have to check the functionality of your corolla’s tail light bulbs if you have confirmed that the fuse is okay. You should first unscrew the lenses to reach to the tail light bulbs. Some lenses, however are not secured by screws. In that case, you should open the trunk if you are get access to the bulbs.
Replace broken tail light lenses
You will need some repair tape if your Corolla’s tail light bulb lenses in case a crack has formed leaking water to the fuse. Many times, leaking water can blow your car’s fuse.
Repair broken spots
Sometimes, broken tail light lenses need no replacing. Some broken spots only need to be filled with lens repair resin and they remain functional, just as good as new. In that case, consult your lens repair kit for supplies of resin for this purpose.
Using repair resin
If you have used repair resin to fill the holes on the tail light lenses or any other repairs then you should smooth the area out. To succeed in this, use the resin and the repair tape. Before filling the broken places with the resin, you should cover the area with repair tape from the outside only to remove it when the resin has dried up healing the area under repair.
Using repair tape
After fixing the wires, wrap any naked wires with the repair tape. Always make sure that your repair kit has enough supply of repair/insulation tape because you may need it for quick repair when you are driving.
Check and repair trailer kit wiring system
Sometimes, faulty back lights could come from faulty wiring system in the trailer kit. Such could affect the functionality of your corolla tail light bulbs. For loose wires in the Corolla’s trunk, reconnect and tighten them to ensure that the wiring system works just right.
