Marrakech is an Amazigh (Berber) originated word which means “Land of God”. The city is the 3rd largest in Morocco coming after Casablanca and Rabat. Marrakech is located at the foot of the Sahara Desert and has a contrasting landscape which has made it an enviable tourist destination in North Africa. The city has two parts which are the historical city called Medina and the New European district which is referred to as Ville Vouvelle or Gueliz. Medina is home to narrow intertwining passageways and local shops with traditional touches while Gueliz is the exact opposite with modern shops, restaurants and large brand stores.
